Microsoft will add video games to Zune by July 2008

Microsoft, will be adding video games for its Zune music player within 18 months to match features available on Apple’s dominant iPod.Peter Moore, a vice president in the company’s Xbox videogame business, confirmed the plan (…), saying the Zune’s large screen will offer a better way to play handheld games. He didn’t specify what games would be offered.

SanDisk promotes USBTV

SanDisk and several partners have announced USBTV, a technology for quickly playing digital video on a TV. 

USBTV drives will be essentially be flash-based media players, to which owners will drag-and-drop their desired videoclips. An onboard processor will automatically convert files into a playable format, and once a drive is connected to a TV, preloaded guide software and a remote will let users to choose what they play. Initial USBTV players will require a special cradle to output to an AV port, but SanDisk is hoping that future TVs will permit direct connection. The popularity of USBTV may be hampered by DRM restrictions however, with copying being limited at the behest of movie and TV studios. The first USBTV products should be ready this spring.

The new Memory Stick Micro (M2) by SanDisk (co-developed with Sony) is targeted mainly for Sony Ericcson’s mobile phones customers, the M2 can also be used in any device with a Memory Stick PRO Duo slots accompanied with an adapter. Read more »

Sony PSP goes Champagne Gold

In addition to black, white, pink, silver & blue PSP, Sony has announced in Japan that they will be releasing yet another color for the PSP and this one will be called Champagne Gold.
