Imation Apollo Portable Hard Drive

Imation launched its new Apollo portable drive. The Apollo portable drive is an especially thin and light USB hard disk that measures half an inch thick and weighs 0.35 pounds. The design is claimed to be durable but upscale with a brushed outside and chrome trim. Like most notebook-class external drives, the Apollo takes its power entirely from the USB port and lets travelers cut down on the number of power cords.

Apollo drives work with both Macs and Windows PCs and come with a Total Media Backup software pack that lets users of either computer platform regularly backup or sync content from a host drive.

It is available in capacities ranging from 160GB ($150) to 320GB ($223). The 500GB model comes later in the summer, while a larger Apollo Pro drive for desktops is scheduled to release before the end of the year.
