Google has launched a new location based service called Latitude that uses location-based technology to track its users’ movements. The applicatio will display the user’s location on a map for friends to see, so they can know where the person is at all times.
he application currently works on the G1, Blackberry, and most Windows Mobile Devices. iPhone, iPod touch and Sony Ericsson phones will be following soon. The where about information is received via GPS, Wi-Fi, or tower triangulation. Users can offer more information about where they are and can upload pictures. Latitude doesn’t interface with MySpace or Facebook.
