MSI’s flagship X-Slim series notebook, the MSI X600 which is which is meant to compete with the MacBook Air has received specs for two of its variations through a new leak. The 15.6-inch notebook sports a 1366×768 resolution and is powered by Intel’s CULV platform, in a package that is less than one-inch thick.
There will be two variations of the laptop available: one packing a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Solo processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 500GB hard drive, and the other sporting a slower 1.2GHz Intel Celeron processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive — the latter also ditches the built-in Bluetooth.
Both versions share the same ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 graphics chipset with 512MB of VRAM and an HDMI output. Other common connections include a VGA port, three USB jacks, an Ethernet port and the requisite headphone and microphone jacks. A webcam is preloaded and all are preloaded with Windows Vista Home Premium. The X600s have memory card readers, full-size keyboards with numeric keypads and 6-cell lithium-polymer batteries. All weigh the same 4.6lbs.
Available in black or silver, the MSI X600 will become available for purchase in Italy at the end of June, with the 1.4GHz models priced at the equivalent of $1,320, while the 1.2GHz X600 will cost $1,120. It should eventually reach the US.
