Creative has announced a third-generation Vado HD. The new model carries a slicker design but more importantly addresses the image and audio quality that’s sometimes been an issue for these cameras: it has a new sensor with better light sensitivity and manual exposure. A stereo microphone output gives it much cleaner input.
The uprated Vado similarly brings headphone output and has a motion sensor that can wait until it sees movement before it starts recording, such as for a video blog or as an ad hoc security camera. It normally records video in 720p using H.264 but will also snap still photos; both Mac and Windows users can use movies without added software.
Just one model is available with 4GB of storage, or about two hours of video. It ships in mid-December and will sell for $180 in multiple colors.
