LaCie has announced LaCinema Classic HD, a media server capable of full 1080p video playback. Users can connect an HDTV using a standard HDMI cable, while Composite connectors are also available. Multichannel DTS audio is supported, sent via HDMI or a dedicated S/PDIF optical port. A 1TB hard drive is integrated for storing movies, music or photos, while a USB 2.0 connection is provided for interface with a computer.

Support for DLNA and UPnP allows the LaCinema to interact with other devices on a home network. Users can share media content with gaming consoles such as a Playstation or Xbox. A variety of video formats are supported, including MKV and DivX, while audio tracks can be stored as AAC, OGG or FLAC files, among others.
The LaCinema Classic HD is compatible with Mac or Windows systems and can be purchased directly from the company for $250.
