AMD ‘Griffin’ and ‘Puma’ Mobile Platform Launched

AMD has unveiled a new mobile platform “Puma” that is designed to deliver better battery life, graphics and video processing. Puma includes “Griffin” processor which is based on 65nm technology, and ATI Radeon graphics and improves overall system efficiency. The Griffin features power optimized HyperTransport and memory controllers (for low power consumption). The firm claims Griffin will be complemented with the forthcoming “RS780” notebook chipset that supports DirectX 10 and HDMI.

AMD announced Phenom CPU

AMD has unveiled the upcoming AMD Phenom processor family name and publicly demonstrated the first all-AMD enthusiast platform, codenamed FASN8. The quad-core processors are expected to deliver a high-end visual experience, especially when paired with AMD’s new DirectX 10 ATI Radeon HD 2000 series, which began shipping today. AMD expects quad-core and dual-core AMD Phenom-based desktop systems to ship in the second half of 2007.
