LaCie has announced a new 1TB Little Big Disk Quadra after launching its 500GB and 400GB versions. The portable Little Big Disk includes two 2.5-inch hard disks that work together in a built-in RAID 0 configuration to enable up to 110MB/s burst transfer rates when using eSATA or up to 80MB/s if using FireWire 800. With one eSATA 3Gbits, two FireWire 800 and one USB 2.0 interface, the Little Big Disk allows universal connectivity for true cross-platform compatibility.

Imation launched its new Apollo portable drive. The Apollo portable drive is an especially thin and light USB hard disk that measures half an inch thick and weighs 0.35 pounds. The design is claimed to be durable but upscale with a brushed outside and chrome trim. Like most notebook-class external drives, the Apollo takes its power entirely from the USB port and lets travelers cut down on the number of power cords.
