Nintendo offers Video Service for Wii

Nintendo announced it would start offering videos for the Wii, marking the first time the device will have readily available programming. The deal will see ad firm Dentsu help produce new videos that will be available solely online. Adding videos will turn the Wii into a fun area for communication between family members.

Content pricing has yet to be chosen but may include a mixture of free and pay-only titles in contrast to a show like Sony’s Qore. The Wii service will launch next year in Nintendo’s home country of Japan, though Nintendo is said contemplating a launch in other countries.

Verismo VuNow PoD brings Internet Videos to TV

Verismo Networks announced the release of its VN100SD device which allows users to watch YouTube videos and other online video content directly on their TVs without having to connect to a computer. The PoD connects to TVs like a DVD player, requiring a wired Internet connection via its Ethernet port.

Nokia First Touchscreen S40-based Phone

Nokia is apparently set to introduce a new candybar handset named the 6208 Classic, which would be Nokia first product that combines a touchscreen with a conventional alphanumeric keypad.  It is said to run on a modified Symbian S40 interface to support the touchscreen functionality or a newly developed OS.

Nikon releases My Picturetown for iPhone

Nikon announced the release of its dedicated application, developed for accessing and using Nikon’s photo storage and sharing site, my Picturetown, from iPhone. This application will be available, free of charge, for download from Apple’s iTunes App Store.
